Truly, the readability score of seowriting.ai is terrible. I tried yesterday and got a 9 score in grammarly.com for readability. With koala writer, I got a score of 37. BIG difference. The flow and writing style with Koala is much better. And this is using GPT3.5 in both. I feel your content was more comprehensive though, but the readability was a challenge. Why don't you reverse engineer the writing styles of WSJ articles or NYT etc and use that as prompts for writing. And btw, Koala is also trying to improve the readability with a polish feature, but it's terrible and makes the sentences really short.

SEOWriting developers, all you would need to do to improve the readability would be two things, well, three, but I'll stick to two for now: to make sentences no longer than 20 words, and paragraphs to include X number of sentences. For me with SEO, I use no more than 2 to 3 sentences in a paragraph. That would greatly improve readability.
There is also the Flesch Reading Ease and the Flesch Kincaid Grade Level which is crucial to use for SEO and readability. See the screencap below.
Learn more about them here: https://readable.com/readability/flesch-reading-ease-flesch-kincaid-grade-level/
As far as sentence and paragraph length options, a dropdown menu with an option for users to select a choice:
Sentence Length
------------------
[Dropdown Menu]
20 words max (this could be set as default)
25 words max
30 words max
35 words max
No word limitations
The same for Paragraph Length:
Paragraph Length
-----------------
[Dropdown Menu]
1 sentence per paragraph
2 sentences per paragraph (this could be set as default)
3 sentences per paragraph
4 sentences per paragraph
No paragraph limitations
If the words and paragraph limitations and both Flesch scoring were included, there would be no readability issues.
Today to get a good readability score, it took me over an hour of editing sentences to no more than 20 words and restructuring all of the paragraphs of a 3,000+ word article. I sincerely hope this can be put into place soon; the amount of time to re-edit is very time consuming.
I'm really looking forward to future developments!

option to make it sound more human-like and conversational.

A option to either write or rewrite and existing article written by SEOwriting make it sound more human-like and conversational. In a style that's easy to understand, using everyday language, metaphors and generally a more engaging, conversational format.
Maybe this can be done, with one of the new features you are planning.

Better Readability Score

Just like Words At Scale on YouTube indicated, a better Readability Score would be AMAZING. This is THE BEST SEO Writer out there, but Readability is an issue. When I create Blogs, I use Hemingway Editor (https://hemingwayapp.com/) to check Readability, which is at Grade 11 most of the time. If you can have it produce content at Grade 7 or below (Targeting Grade 5), it would be a GAMECHANGER!!! I have beta tested as well and Readability is a ranking factor.

What may be an option is to either set the prompt to an 8th grade level, for example, or have the system check the average readability score for the top three articles ranked in Google and use that for the score. Readability is important for SEO in 2024.

I've noticed that many articles I run through Hemingway to assess readability are coming in at grade 14 or higher reading levels. It would be great to have a way to target articles at specific grade levels to aid in readability. Although Google hasn't specifically said this is a ranking factor, more prominent SEOs are convinced "readability" is becoming a ranking factor. This feature would help.
SEOWriting.AI
Mike Shuey: You are absolutely right, we need to make it better "readability".
